All SEASAR members going into the field are required to have a pack containing basic equipment. Required clothing, including footwear, will change with the time of year and conditions expected. Some of the items you'll want in your pack include:

 

Minimum Equipment

  • Adequate clothing including foot wear and hat

  • Band-Aids

  • Bandanna

  • Compass

  • Duct tape (ten feet)

  • Emergency blanket

  • Eye protection

  • Flashlight (including extra batteries)

  • Gloves (leather-palmed)

  • High-energy snacks (mix of fats, proteins, and sugars)

  • Insect repellent

  • Knife

  • Leaf Bag

  • Matches (in a waterproof container)

  • Mirror

  • Mole-skin

  • Nitrile gloves

  • Notebook & pencil

  • One-way CPR barrier (pocket mask)

  • Personal medications & alert tags

  • Roller gauze

  • SAR Identification

  • Sterile dressings

  • Sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

  • Triangular bandages

  • Tweezers

  • Two children's or one adult aspirin (Tylenol, Advil are not acceptable substitutes)

  • Utility shears (bottom blade must be rounded; must be capable of cutting denim)

  • Watch

  • Water (sufficient quantity to remain hydrated)

  • Water bottles or Hydration Pack

  • Whistle

Desirable Equipment

  • GPS

  • Phone
